Isotherm 3 is exceptionally stable. It resists oxidation, does not form varnish or resins, maintains its viscosity, and has low volatility. It therefore retains its cooling properties even after prolonged use. Isotherm 3 provides uniform, deep hardening, producing consistent hardness across the entire surface of the component. It can be used in quenching baths at any temperature and can also be heated. To accelerate the quenching rate, the oil in the bath can be agitated using a mechanical stirrer. Isotherm 3 E is a washable version of Isotherm 3. Components quenched in Isotherm 3 E can be rinsed with a stream of water to leave them clean and free of oil.
